I recently bought a Dell Digital Jukebox, with 20 GB of memory. So what, you ask?
Well, that translates into about 10,000 songs, that will fit into this tiny MP3 player, that’s about the size of a deck of cards! 10,000 songs! It seems so amazing and here’s what’s even more amazing: Mine contains about 200 songs.
I’m embarrassed by that. Here I am, a radio person and I can only manage to find a few hundred songs that I really want to listen to! There may be a few people out there who like 10,000 songs, but I think most people have a few hundred that they might want to hear more than once, but we are seduced into spending an extra $50 or $100 for “more memory, dude”. And since we’ve paid for all of that memory, we feel compelled to fill it up…in many cases with terrible music, that we’ll end up skipping past to get to the good stuff. Right?
I’m thinking that I want to download some songs, but I’m not really up on those services, plus Dom has thousands of CDs, so my plan is to show up at his place with a big bottle of Jaegermeister for him and my laptop and MP3 player to raid his collection!
